Length of Rod Minimum 48 inches per person in household. Allow 3 to 4½ inches per lightweight and heavy coats. Allow 2½ inches per man's garment. Shelves Allow 3 inches between rods and first shelf. 11-inch to 15-inch depth of first shelf. 11-inch depth of second shelf. 8- to 9-inch allowance between shelves.

Appliances	Most major electrical appliances made today are slightly less than 30" wide to facilitate moving through interior residential doorways. Some may be wider, but their depth will still allow movement through doors. Apartment style appliances may be slightly less than 24" wide. The height for fixtures such as door knobs and electrical outlets are to the center of the item.
